Gauteng Finance and Economic Development MEC, Lebogang Maile, has praised the City of Tshwane for its recent improvements in municipal performance following a challenging three-year period of poor audit outcomes. Maile’s comments came in response to the Gauteng municipalities’ audit results, released last week by the Auditor-General.
The City of Tshwane, which previously had unqualified audits with findings for three consecutive years, faced a setback with an adverse opinion for the 2021/2022 financial year. However, the city showed significant progress by receiving a qualified opinion for the 2022/2023 financial year, a development that Maile acknowledged as a positive step forward.
