The incident, which occurred on 6 May, involved an unfinished apartment building that collapsed on 62 people, resulting in the deaths of 34 construction workers on site.

Premier Winde Calls for Urgent Action
Western Cape Premier Alan Winde has called on all stakeholders involved to expedite their investigations, stressing the need for accountability and closure for the victims and their families.
“We’ve agreed that we will write to the other organisations that are busy with investigations,” Winde stated. “We know that SAPS and the Department of Labour are busy with investigations. We really need to make sure that we wrap up these investigations so that consequences for the cause of this building collapse can follow through. I think everyone wants closure ASAP, and hopefully, we get this done this year.”
