The trial against alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack will resume on Monday, spotlighting co-accused and former Anti-Gang Unit member Ashley Tabisher. Tabisher claims he was coerced into making a statement about his involvement in the case under the promise of bail.
Tabisher, along with Modack and 14 others, faces charges including murder, extortion, money laundering, and fraud. He is specifically charged with corruption for allegedly providing Modack with inside information on Anti-Gang Unit operations and raids.
Following his arrest in 2021, Tabisher asserted that police coerced him into giving a warning statement with the assurance of bail. Last week, Judge Robert Henney postponed proceedings to allow the State to prove the admissibility of this statement in court.
On Monday, the State will determine whether Tabisher’s statement can be used as evidence against him.
